Outdoor cooking can be enjoyed when you buy barbecues, wood fired ovens and fire pits. Little experience is needed and is regarded by many as a great way of entertaining family and friends.
There are a multitude of ways to enjoy your outdoor cooking, with gas barbecues having taken over from the traditional lighting of coals and burning wood, making life a little easier along the way. The taste of food is similar, however it's much simpler to 'turn on the gas' than open another pack of fire lighters!
Wood fired ovens and pizza ovens are gaining popularity being able to cook a wider variety of food and as these are vented, reduce the amount smoke synonymous with barbecues.
What's becoming equally as popular is a covered area, sometimes referred to as a 'gazebo' so that you can enjoy your alfresco cooking come rain or shine. It protects everything and also adds to the ambience of dining outdoors, allowing you to shade the area from the heat of the sun, or protect it from the rain.
The structures are usually of rustic timber, bricks or render and the roof can be slatted, shingle, slate or even more popular are the terra cotta tiles normally associated with hotter climates.
These are frequently seen in Italy, Spain, Portugal, France etc and rapidly gaining popularity to compliment the 'rustic look and feel' of outdoor cooking areas.
These can be stand alone structures or built into a landscaping setting with seating, preparation areas and log stores as features that are both practical and aesthetically pleasing. The benefit of 'building in' is that they are robust, hard wearing and will last for many years with little or no maintenance required.
There are numerous designs to choose from and most carpenters will adapt and build the structure to meet your needs.
Besides the normal cooking place and prep areas you can build in fridges and storage for all your alfresco activities.
For the more enthusiastic, a bar and seating section can be incorporated for the all round entertainment value of cooking, eating and drinks for every occasion.
Planning permission is rarely required for these non permanent structures as long as they're not obstructing neighbours in any way, however we can advise and answer all your questions regarding building of any gazebo or bar.
